The sea is not intrinsically the realm of humans.
It is the ship that sailors entrust their lives to in
order to embark on a voyage out on these seas.
This idea is firmly embedded in the minds of
all Imabari Shipbuilding employees,
who devote all their energy to building reliable ships.
When a completed ship is rowed out
to sea after the launching ceremony,
they call out to the ship, which they built
with their own hands and treat like their own child.
They boldly proclaim, "Venture on through
the rough waters of the world."
Each ship which is given a name will continue to
powerfully sail across the waters of the world
for many decades after it leaves their hands.
We have this idea in the corner of
our minds as we go about building the next ship.
That is what shipbuilding is all about.
