On March 31 (Tue), attended by a great number of guest of the concerned parties, the Naming and Delivery Ceremony has been performed successfully and with great éclat in our Hiroshima Shipyard for the 14,000TEU Type Ultra Large Container Carrier M.S. MILLAU BRIDE, built for Messrs. KAWASAKI KISEN KAISHA, LTD., the largest container carrier ever constructed in Japan.
She has an overall length of 365.9meters, with breadth of 51.2meters and depth of 29.9meters. The vessel size has been enlarged and various energy saving equipments such as specialized rudder are adopted which enable the vessel to increase the propulsion efficiency, and other energy saving technologies are also applied including the latest paint for outer shell plating that reduces the sea water frictional resistance, and the “bow cover” which diminishes the wind resistance to the bow.
M.S. MILLAU BRIDGE is deployed to the East-West key route serving Asia-Europe, and has just sailed out on the ocean to support the daily life of the people in the world.
Through developing higher quality and better design, we will push forward to constructing new building vessels with great care, in order to contribute to safe voyage and expanding world ocean transportation.
