Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., jointly with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), receives order for two next-generation pure car and truck carriers.

Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., jointly with MHI, has received an order to build
two next-generation pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) for a domestic customer.

These PCTCs will be designed 200m in length , 35m width and 38m depth with capacity for about 7,000
vehicles, which is called post-panamax type, in anticipation of the planned expansion of the Panama Canal to be completed in the autumn of 2014.
These next-generation eco friendly vessels will be adopted many energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies.

MHI and we have held frequent meetings with the customer to make the basic design drawing based on the design developed by MHI.
We undertake to complete the detailed design and construct the vessels.

We have delivered over 100 PCTCs that meet with our clients’ needs of the time.
With over 110 years' shipbuilding experience to construct various types of vessels,
we continue to develop more competitive and environmental friendly vessels, aiming to acquire new business
opportunities even under this severe market conditions.
